CHE RACCONTANO
LA STORIA DI UN TERRITORIO
A Montottone, un piccolo borgo immerso nelle tonde e verdi colline del fermano,
si trova una bottega di vasai. E’ posta ai bordi del centro storico, appoggiata alle mura di cinta. E’ umile, annerita dal tempo e dal fumo della fornace a legna.
Una volta il luogo si chiamava “Via Borgo Vasai”. Oggi, il nuovo titolo di quella strada, diventata Via Circonvallazione, tace e nasconde l’arte caratteristica del posto. Ma nella bottega continua la tradizionale operosità.
A lavorare ancora l’argilla è la famiglia BOZZI. L’arte si tramanda da padre in figlio da dal 1851 la loro manifattura appartiene a questo paese.
Quello che un tempo veniva chiamato il “paese dei vasai” è comunque rimasto l’unico centro che conserva un antico laboratorio e mantiene la produzione del vasellame domestico usato fino a 50 anni fa nel territorio piceno.
E’ grazie a Mario, l’anziano Mastro Vasaio, se ancora oggi si è mantenuta l’arte della sua bottega; la passione lo ha portato dapprima a diventare un abile figulo, poi a resistere agli attacchi della rivoluzione industriale e, arrivato il momento, ad insegnare ai propri figli la conoscenza teorica e gestuale che un bravo vasaio deve avere.
In Montottone, a small village nestled in the green hills around Fermo, there is a pottery workshop. It’s on the edge of the historic center, built against the town walls. But the traditional industriousness continues in the shop. It' s humble ... blackened by time and smoke from the wood-burning kiln. Once the place was called "Potter’s hamlet street" but today it has become “Bypass street” in fact hiding the characteristic art of the place. Still working the clay is the Bozzi family. The art has been handed down from father to son from 1851, their manufacture belongs to this village. What once was called the "land of the potters", has however remained the only center that preserves an ancient workshop and maintains the production of domestic pottery used up to 50 years ago in the Piceno territory. It’ s thanks to Mario, the Master Potter, if the art of his shop has lived on; his passion led him first to become a skilled potter, then to resist the attacks of the industrial revolution and, when the time came, to teach his children the theoretical knowledge and gesture that a good potter must have.
Ora, ad Annamaria ed Emanuele, il giovane ma già affermato vasaio, è affidato il non facile compito di conservare e tramandare le “forme della loro terra”. Con esse, la bottega racconta la vita popolare di quelle verdi colline ma invita anche ad un nuovo, audace e sano, ritorno alle origini.
Now, to Annamaria and Emanuele, the young but established potter, is entrusted the difficult task of preserving and passing on the "shapes of their land”. With them they tell the folk life of those green hills but also invite you to a new, bold and healthy return to the roots.
